Secondary in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies
Jewel Pereyra is a Ph.D. candidate in the American Studies program with a secondary in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Her dissertation "Afro-Filipina Aesthetics: Transnational Sound Cultures and Dance Performances" explores 20th and 21st century interracial and mixed-race Afro-Filipina women's print, sound, and performance cultures in the Philippines, United States, and France. At Harvard, she has served as co-coordinator of the Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies Working Group and the Theater and Performance Colloquium. In her free time, she enjoys painting with watercolors, listening to Toro y Moi, camping in the woods, traveling, and hiking.
